Reimagine Remake Replay – Power to the Young People was a series of workshops and activities that culminated in an exhibition at the Ulster Museum. Shaped by a group of formidable 16–25 year-olds, the exhibition featured a wide range of art and design pieces under the selected areas of Climate Justice, Arts & Wellbeing and LGBTQIA+ Rights.
Alongside a number of talented facilitators we worked with the group to produce exhibition graphics and a toolkit that gave the group a strong visual identity and empowered them to generate their own content. This playful visual language was paired with a set of provocative statements that provided the group with a confident and authentic voice.
The group made it clear that the exhibition had to be accessible to all and uncompromisingly sustainable. Working alongside Steven McNamara at studio ROJI, existing displays were repurposed and a range of innovative paper-based materials were selected to ensure everything printed was easy-to-recycle. To make the exhibition accessible and inclusive, the entire space was easy-to-access and all information was clear and accessible.
The vibrant and spirited overall look contrasted with the clinical exhibition space and allowed the group to ‘take-over’ the museum in a way that felt somewhat anarchic, but was in fact fully inclusive, environmentally responsible and socially progressive. Just like the group.
